Interior Design now is not well known, but in the future, it will be. Not everyone knows it yet, but Interior Design is a priority. It is a need that needs to be known. Interior design is an element that helps people in their everyday life. What's more important than that? Not only is the profession not well known, but the pursuers of the profession aren't considered either. We're just as important as architects and doctors. Why do they get all the spot light?
Soon, we will get our fame too. Interior design is becoming more noticed and valued. Little by little. But eventually, when people understand, we will be seen everywhere. I think the field is becoming larger and more dominant than others. I just hope it happens before I'm gone.
I would love to see the day when everyone knows what I am working to become; Interior Designer.
I was always good at drawing, learning new things, and making creations of my own. I soon realized that I would be a designer. A designer of what? I didn't know that yet. But here I am; on my way to being an Interior Designer. This field uses all of the talents I had before I started and all of the talents I learned after. This profession requires learning new things constantly and always having new ideas. Which I'm full of. What's better than using you're own ideas to and talents to design something that's not only amazing, but important. Something that will be seen, used, and admired day after day for a very long time.
Aside from the thousands of codes, regulations, and rules that go into every project, Interior Design perfect for me.

TV is a lie
We have been having conversation about interior designers and the burdens that reality decorating shows place on clients' expectations, and clients idea of the amount of money that it takes to design a house. There are no shows on television that clearly demonstrate what an Interior Designer does. I don't blame them for not having one; no one would want to watch that hard, boring parts of out job. However, I do blame them for the false presentations they show viewers. These unrealistic shows are putting ideas in our clients' heads that just aren't possible. We cannot make a new, redesigned home overnight. Nonetheless make it within their budget.
Not only are clients being fooled, but us interior designers are being degraded. We are being compared to these shows that make what we do look easy and unimportant. Realistically, we are more than that; we are important, we are needed, and we work hard. What we do doesn't happen in the blink of an eye- we barely get the chance to blink. We don't make a room pretty- we make a room.

Are you Willing?
All places need interior design. It's obvious that some of these places are homes, offices, and other commercial buildings, but what about prisons, rehabs, and shelters? It has been brought to my attention today that these places are in desperate need of interior design. The places and people that need it most, are the one's most neglected. Some reasons why is the fact that there's just not enough money in that area of interior design, but also, some people just don't care. It may go beyond some people's ethics, but who is willing to do it?
I wouldn't mind designing the interiors of the places because my job as an Interior Designer is protect the health, safety, and welfare or people. Who is helping these people? It shouldn't matter if it's a prisoner, a patient, or homeless. They still need a place that is safe. Prisoners still deserve to be in a safe place regardless of why they are in prison. They still have the right to live until it's their time. The same goes for the homeless; regardless of what they did to be in the predicament they are in or how they got there shouldn't deprive them of their rights as a human. Those in rehab lack the design relief that is required in an interior. Design relief is a major concept and those who are rehabilitating are some who need it most; yet they have it least.
Going to these places to do research in creating a better interior for these people would be the only thing I would struggle with. Seeing their faces and looking into their eyes would be the hardest part. But I would have to remember what I am there to do; better their conditions. Being able to improve their minds and everyday life is what matters.
Who else is willing to better these unnoticed interiors and unrecognized people?

Is It Fair?
Some people strive and work hard their entire life to accomplish their goals. For some, this goal is to establish a successful career. They go to school, study, give things up, do things they don't want to, and put all they have into achieving the career that they thought could possibly only remain a goal. It not only take effort, but time too. So how would you feel after working all this time, doing all the things you had to do to acquire the career of your dreams only to see others with the same job, but achieved by other routes.
There are people who don't go to school, don't try, don't spend their money or time, but somehow, they have the career you strived for. They may have experience or passion, but does that make it fair? Does that make it okay?
Personally, I would feel cheated. After all the things I had done only to be equal to someone who did less than half the things I had done. How could I not feel hurt. I'm not even there yet, but after all the time and money I've already spent and seeing undeserving people in the place I should be makes me feel like I've wasted everything just to be nothing.

What Does Gender Have to Do With It?
Interior Designers are not Decorators or Architects. Interior Designers are often confused as Decorators. They are not. It will be said again and again. Why is it that Interior Designers are mistaken for Decorators, but never Architects? They are not the same, but they are more similar than a Decorator to an Interior Designer. Why is it that Interior Designer is only for women and Architecture only for men? It shouldn't be about gender, it's about the passion and the knowledge one has.
I began Interior Design courses when I was 18. I started with 36 accepted college credits for Humanities 1 and 2, History of Western Art, History of Theatre, Painting, Figure Drawing, 2D Design, and all prerequisites which include: English 1, 2, 3, and 4, Algebra 1 and 2, Advanced Functions, Civil History, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and more. Since I've began courses in the Interior Design field and working toward a Bachelor, I have maintained a Grade Point Average of 4.0. So far, I have taken 20 four hour classes in 1 year. 5 classes every 11 weeks. I think it's clear that regardless of my gender, I can pursue any profession, whether or not it's seen to be masculine or feminine.
Interior Design has its own name and is its own name. It is clear that we are not Decorators not Architects. We are what we are ad we do what we do. We DESIGN interiors. We do not pick out paint colors and fluff pillows, we do not build buildings, we DESIGN interiors. This meanings we use math, hand drafting, digital drafting, and how to create new things that are on the inside of a building. We do studies on color, materials, textiles, lighting, environments, people, and much, much, much, MUCH, more!
I am a female, and I can pursue whatever profession I choose, whether or not it is considered masculine or feminine. I have the passion and knowledge needed to accomplish what is needed.
